How does synchronization work?
The synchronization works between Android devices and PC/Mac computers as well. In this case when you make a change in one of the devices e.g. in a note you will see it on the other device as well.
When shall I make backup?
(You should use synchronization instead of backup/restore)
Backup is automatic which means that every time you start the program it checks whether there is a change in notes, commentary, etc. databases and if there is any it makes backup. You should make a backup only if you want to save a state.
How can I keep my notes and other data?
The simplest way for keep your data is to use automatic synchronization. (You should use synchronization instead of backup/restore)
Backup/Restore:
The Bible program makes backups of your data (notes, bookmarks, etc.) into the user's directory, into the 'Bible-Discovery' directory's 'backup' subdirectory. It is usually /Users/<user>/BibleDiscovery/backup.
It is recommended to archive this directory sometimes. You can archive it by copying it into another directory of the computer, or copying it into e.g. DropBox/Google Drive/etc.
After the archive make sure it was successful, so e.g. when archiving DropBox check whether the files are there in the DropBox account.
How can I install my data from one device to the other (e.g. after the reinstallation of the computer)?
The simplest way for keep your data is to use automatic synchronization. (You should use synchronization instead of backup/restore)
First you have to archive the data of the Bible program according to the description above than you can restore.
How can I restore from an earlier backup?
(You should use synchronization instead of backup/restore)
Backup/Restore:
You have to copy the files of the earlier backup into a new optional subdirectory from the backup directory used by the program (this is usually /Users/<user>/BibleDiscovery/backup). When you start the program a window comes out from the restore menu item of the main menu with the directory you want to restore. You have to chose this directory on the screen and press restore. This way the program exchanges the current data files to the earlier backup files and restore is ready. Finally you have to exit the program and start Bible-Discovery again and now you can see the earlier backup data.
