Volume up and down buttons have a special meaning in this panel: going back and forth in the list.
What is the difference between dictionary, Strong dictionary, commentary and e-book?
- Dictionary: it contains the interpretation of the words. There are two types: normal dictionary and Strong dictionary.
- Strong dictionary: it contains the interpretation, meaning of the Hebrew/Greek words belonging to Strong numbers. It differs from the normal dictionary as the words have numbers and these words are Hebrew and Greek words.
- Commentary: it contains explanations belonging to verses (verse numbers).
- E-book: free text which does not belong to verse numbers and words, usually a discussion of a topic (e.g.: worship service, preaching).
Choosing a dictionary
Selecting the E-Books label from the top left menu opens the repository of already downloaded Dictionaries, Commentaries and Ebooks. You can switch to another dictionary by clicking on the name of it.
What is the difference between looking up and search?
- Look up: The program looks up the text entered in the words of the dictionary.
- Search: The program searches in the words of the dictionary and in the descriptions belonging to it, so it both looks up and searches.
Search in the Strong dictionary based on Greek/Hebrew transcription
You can also search for transliteration of a Greek / Hebrew word. When you start the search, you can set it to search only in the transliteration of Greek / Hebrew words in the Strong dictionaries.
